At Getaway we proudly boast that we are one of the most active sailing schools in NSW. We have competed in every offshore race in the sailing calendar over the last five years and have an active social / cruising calendar. This gives our customers the chance to put their newly learnt skills to practice!

Not only offshore but inshore as well. We compete in the summer twilight series which gives everybody the chance to get on the harbour as much as possible. We also compete in the Cruising Yacht Clubs BMW winter series through out the winter.

Audi Sydney Gold Coast Yacht Race - 26th July 2008 VO60

This is without doubt the biggest offshore race of the year with over 70 yachts. It's the skippers choice for RACE OF THE YEAR.

Why? Cause the weather is dry, deep blue skies, with tricky land and sea breezes and a huge fleet to compete against.

If that's not enough, then the warm Queensland welcome should do it for you!
. There is a great atmosphere up there and some of the best, tightest coastal racing you will ever have the chance to try.

There is a training program in place for the crew, and inclusive in the cost is training day on the VO60, wet weather and Cat 1 safety gear (pfd, teather, strobe and EPIRB), tuition, food and drink onboard as well as CYCA crew race entry fees and team shirt.

Brisbane to Great Keppel Island Yacht Race - 2008

Last year Getaway-Sailing took line honors in the inaugural Brisbane to Great Keppel Island Tropical Yacht Race.

Airlie Beach Race Week - Boat Charter or Pay Per Seat - Volvo 60 & Sydney 38

Offshore not your thing?

Then why not sail with us on board our generation three, VOLVO 60 or our Sydney 38 in this great land based Regatta? Join us in the Whitsundays as we spend a week racing round the many Islands in an action packed race week.

Famous for Hawaiian shirts, after sailing parties and great scenery, this is a great regatta on line winning boat.

What does 2008 hold for Getaway Sailing

This 414nm race is one of only two Cat 1 Ocean Races, in Australia.

Come race with us on our Volvo 60, as we reach across the Tasman Sea to the untouched tropical paradise of Lord Howe Island. This race is a small fleet of only 22 boats since space is limited due to anchoring in the lagoon.

Lord Howe Island is a heritage listed and is a protected nature reserve. It's a great place to stop over for a couple of days and fly back on one of the dodgy charter planes or sail back with us if you have not had enough fun.

Spots are limited and fill up quick so book in advance.... Get in fast as we were fully booked by July!!!

Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race 2008 - VOLVO 60 . Start planning......

Paul Cayard, winning Volvo and America's Cup Skipper, once said "Sydney to Hobart is 610 miles of the roughest conditions in racing. Some call it crazy, others see it as the ultimate CHALLENGE...one of those rare opportunities in life...unforgettable" .

This is arguably the most famous ocean race in the world and certainly one of the toughest. It's an Australian ICON, a Boxing Day tradition for many Sydneysiders. This will be Getaway's 9th time competing in this classic race. We are, once again, inviting interest to compete this race on a VOLVO 60.

Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race 2008 - Sydney 38

If you want to compete in this years Sydney-Hobart race, but don't have the shackles to go for the fast race package on the VO60, then why not sail with us on the Sydney 38?
It will be a competitive ride in the hotly One design or IRC division. This S38 is rearing to go south, and then will cruise back to Sydney after the race.

It comes complete with a full set of race sails to ensure that you go south with SPEED!

Want to fast track it back to Sydney this summer on the world famous Volvo 60,ex Djuice Dragons. Then book your crew spot now.

We leave 2nd January 2009 and overnight in Port Arthur, then beeline it to Sydney at a blistering pace.

Some of you might want to cover the miles in preparation for the big race in 2009 or just chalk up some solid offshore miles.

This trip is not for the faint hearted, some offshore experience is necessary but we will instruct you on how to sail one of these offshore beasts.... It’s a trip of a lifetime!

Hobart to Sydney - Coastal Cruise January 2009

Join us in the New Year as we return our race boats home to Sydney.

We sail along the Tasmanian coastline from Hobart to Sydney after New Years Eve, not a bad way to welcome in the New Year!

Stopping off at Port Arthur, Wineglass Bay and Eden as we make our way back to Sydney!

This sail is one of our favourites and passes some of Australia's most stunning landscapes.

Leaving on Hobart on 2nd January 2008 and expected to arrive back in Sydney on the 8th.
